Forsythia

Yesterday I was preparing for our little wine tasting event* when my boyfriend came struggling though the door with a a bag full of fruit, stinky cheeses and an armful of forsythia branches. There is something about these little yellow flowers that makes me so happy. Maybe its is because you feel as though you are cheating at this whole winter thing when they wake up and bloom inside. It reminds me that spring is right around the corner. Today I think you can actually feel it in the air!

*While the wine tasting dinner was a bit outside our daily budget, it was still very cheap considering our guests brought most of the wine and I made lasagna and salad from stuff in the fridge. Our fun wine tasting charts are from Delong wine, and of course we had the benefit of having a self proclaimed "wine nerd" walk us through everything we needed to know!

I think I saw some forsythia at Trader Joe's; I shall have to get some to liven up my kitchen. SPRING FLOWERS, YAY! And, in just one week we'll be changing the clocks again. It'll be so nice to leave work while it's still light out.
