One Grand Soiree
Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 8:51PM Lately I have been alluding to a little thousand dollar dinner party I planned courtesy of my winnings from the food52 contest. And a couple of weeks ago it actually happened. I wrote up the priciest menu I could dream of, and armed with my color coded-Excel-designed shopping list, I moseyed over to the TriBeCa Whole Foods (best seafood, rumor has it) to cash in. After filling two and a half carts, a lunch break in the sushi bar, and lots of laps in the produce department, I emerged, exhausted and armed with some of the fanciest ingredients I have ever had the pleasure of purchasing... and a four foot long receipt. The party itself was a whirlwind and I didn't get near enough pictures but here is a little glimpse at the menu and the decor. (and psst.. heres some linkage for the fish recipe and the custom cocktails for the evening- Ginger Sidecar and The Baby Grand)
Thanks to all that came and especially Food 52 for the opportunity to inspire such an affair!

My method for organizing serving dishes

Menu items were written on candles

the soundtrack favors

chive blinis

mignonette and sparkly nails!

I wasnt kidding about the reciept!
Handmade confetti garland
Custom cocktail napkins "you look like a million bucks"
and then the next day:
oy vey.

Looks amazing! Too bad you couldn't set $100 aside for a house cleaners for the next day
How fabulous! this is truly a cook/hostess' dream come true! thanks for sharing.
How wonderful! Does it make me a bad cook if the thing that stood out most to me was your awesome nail polish? :)
I had so much fun reading about your party! What did you use to write on your candles? I love that detail (and all the others)!
Thanks everyone! Pilar- I used a sharpie for the gold candles and a white paint marker for the black ones. Camille- I loved that you noticed the nail polish, i was very excited about it too!
