Sherlock Holmes

Last night I saw this very entertaining film. A few things stuck with me, first off: it is clear Sherlock Holmes is the role Robert Downing Jr. was born to play. He is quirky, smart, irreverent, tragic, conniving and witty all at once. Also I think he's been working out.

Secondly, the movie is beautiful, set in an ornate and tarnished London filled with impeccable set design and smartly dressed gents.

Lastly, I was prepared to dislike Rachel "The Notebook" McAdams in this role but she wasn't bad and she really knows how to rock a bustle.(They seemed to be growing with every scene.) Also Jude Law is in it, if you like that sort of thing.

I just saw "Sherlock Holmes" on Friday and I could not get over the costumes. I'm already a little gaga over vests and bustles and hats (HATS!), but yes, wonderful. And I realize that the action part isn't really in keeping with the spirit of the old stories, but it was well done and FUN.
