Christmas decorations

Inspired by a photo I saw in Gourmet magazine (God rest it's soul) I created this little centerpiece as part of my Christmas decorations. I dont have many doorways and no staircase, so I wanted to find a festive alternative to garland. Plus I really love projects that don't cost much yet have a fancy feel. All you need is ornaments, red yarn and patience.

Inspired spaces

One thing I love about the cooler months is people have dinner parties and events where you can hole up and staying in is half the fun. I went to 2 such events this weekend. One was a pumpkin carving, and the other was a pre Thanksgiving bash. (It was such a treat to have turkey and fixins a month before usual!) It is so rare to spend time in your friends apartments when you live in New York, usually everyones place is so small you meet in a bar or restaurant and can go months before you ever see where they live. But I love it. And it got me thinking about decor again, I love these colorful interiors..

Beach Cottage

Truth be told this isnt what I always thought my dream house would look look like. But I came across this article and fell in love with it. I mean, the liberty print bike parked out front was enough to make me swoon, and then the inside is so charming... and the pink fridge?! Love.

ELLE Decor

Like I said in the last post, it has been sweltering in the ol' NYC, but finally we've caught a break. For awhile there, every time I left the house all I wanted to do was find a place to swim. I saw the top picture on The Selby and started day dreaming about taking an outdoor shower on Martha's Vineyard. Here it comes: my summer wanderlust, beach edition.

Kitchen pantries

While skimming through a sneak peek on Design Sponge the other day, I spied this amazing pantry on and had major house envy. What is it about a well stocked pantry that sparks my thirst for a giant kitchen and tons of mason jars? Best of all, a great pantry like this really inspires you to cook and eat healthfully. I love the fact that there is nary a prepackaged item in sight. No microwave popcorn or Chips Ahoy, and no plastic wrapping, now thats a pantry anyone would be proud to show off. If you have been watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution or are aware of how much plastic we uselessly consume, then you know what I mean.

Blue chairs

House Beautiful is doing some thing where they leave blue chairs on the street on a "finders keepers" basis. I'm not really sure what it is promoting but I'm into it.

Thumbtacks

Right next to my desk at home I have an giant bulletin board. I have it so I can tack up little pictures or things like excite me at any given time. Thing is, I never use it. It has had the same 5 photos, a Paris map and a cable bill posted up there for the almost an entire year. So my new years resolution is to get inspired enough to use my inspiration board so it can further inspire me.
